Humbled for a cause...

Causes are near and dear to my heart.  Whenever I can, I try to provide a piece of my art to support many charities and events.

Recently my Aunt approached me about designing a custom PINK piece for her to wear on a breast cancer cruise that she and my uncle are partaking in this coming weekend.
My Aunt and Uncle own a cruise line agency and get to travel to exotic and wonderful places every month, lucky them, but this one has a deeper meaning for everyone involved.

Obviously I was completely honored to be asked to design this special piece for her to show both of our support in the fight against this wicked disease.

her only requests - it needed to be pink, it needed to be simple and it needed to have bling! Haha.

She was particularly drawn to my zippered rose headbands and wanted something along the lines of that but a little more designed, but still simple enough.

The result - Lady Ruby.  A combination of Disco Inferno - Zippered Rose and Lady Portia Cocktail Hat.

She hasn't seen it yet, I hope she loves it!  I'm always so nervous to present a custom piece because custom designs really come from the heart and soul and I put a lot into it.

This piece is composed of the following materials.

Antique Ruby Vintage Hand Constructed Zipper Rose
Embellished with Ruby Swarovski Crystals
Cherise Pink Shiny Sequins (for added sparkle)
Cranberry Curled and Spiked Goose Biots
Cranberry Tulle Puff

The Piece as per her request is fixated upon a black headband to match her hair.

I hope she enjoys this piece, dances the night away and supports a great cause.

time is sacred and rare for this lone milliner...

i apologize all, i have been rather tardy in between posts.
who am I kidding...i've had one post and for that...i severely apologize.

life has been in the fast lane for the past 2 weeks, new full time job, orders to fill, designs to create, people to buy presents for.

it would appear that really only #1 and #2 of that list are being fulfilled at the moment...dread.

i have made some beautiful new pieces in the past 2 weeks though and can not wait to share them with you, so please bare with me...i should have some interesting updates in the days to follow

My Memoirs

Welcome!

So, here we have it....the first post to my new blog!

It's slightly bizarre, not going to lie...but here you will uncover the innermost workings of a modern day Milliner.  As an admirer of all things beautiful, embellished and extravagent, 1 year ago, I discovered myself deep within the troves of a classic artform lost by many.  In 6 months I have grown my craft into a full time success story.

It has it's ups and downs, it has it's trials and tribulations and something worth living for does not come without sacrifices, but it's been one hell of a ride and a journey and I finally feel like i'm ready to share that journey with others.

Sit back, relax and welcome to the Memoirs of THE Modern Milliner.
